Whether you’re counting down the days in anticipation, or looking for last-minute flights to a desert island, Christmas will soon be upon us again and with it all the hustle and bustle of planning your present shopping, writing Christmas cards and hanging decorations!
If you’re anything like me, the home decorations take priority over the present buying (cue last-minute panic-buying on Christmas Eve for stocking fillers & socks/wine/chocolates!).
At this time of year there’s nothing better than coming in on a cold dark night to a warm, snug, and most importantly twinkly home! The soft glow emitted by string lights is great for creating a cosy vibe, and really gets me in the holiday spirit (or is that the mulled wine???).
No matter what your home decor, there is a string light to suit! No longer confined to the festive season, these days you can buy string lights in literally thousands of colours, shapes and designs, and they don’t have to cost a fortune either.

These delicate leaf and crystal bead twinkle lights I displayed on my mantlepiece four Christmases ago, and I loved them so much they never came down 🙂
I managed to pick up (several) elegant string lights during our recent jaunt to the Ideal Home Show in Manchester’s Event City, in a variety of Christmas themes and all for under £10!
I’ve always been attracted to different types of interiors, from contemporary minimalist, cosy scandi and classic Edwardian, to retro pop art and seaside cottage, and every room in my home is different. These silver reindeer lights are modern yet elegant and ‘pop’ against my dark grey walls in the dining room, whilst the stencil effect in the Christmas tree lights remind me of chunky knit jumpers and are perfect in my cosy living room.
Top Tip: if you’re planning a trip to a home decor show in the near future, it’s worth braving the crowds and going on the last day. The majority of stall holders offer big discounts to shift their remaining stock – I got these reindeer string lights for half price 🙂
Whatever you do with your lights this Christmas, make sure you have fun! We’d love to see your lighting scheme, so be sure to share your snaps with us 🙂
